The materials typically used for oxygen transport membranes, Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3?δ (BSCF) and La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 (LSCF) tend to decompose due to their low thermochemical stability under reducing atmosphere. Fe- and Co-doped SrTiO3 (SrTi1-x-yCoxFeyO3-δ, x + y ≤ 0.35) (STCF) materials showing an oxygen transport comparable to LSCF have great potential for application in ion-transport-devices. In this study, the thermochemical stability of pure perovskite-structured STCF was investigated after annealing in a syngas atmosphere at 600–900 °C. The phase composition of the materials after annealing was characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thermodynamic activities of SrO, FeO, and CoO in the STCF materials were evaluated using Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry (KEMS). Co-doped SrTiO3 (STC) materials were not stable after annealing in the syngas atmosphere above 5 mol% Co-substitution. Ruddlesden-Popper-like phases and SrCO3 were detected after annealing at 600 °C. In contrast, Fe substitution (STF) showed good stability after annealing in syngas upto 35 mol% substitution.  相似文献

The chromium (Cr) evaporation behavior of several different types of iron (Fe)-based AFA alloys and benchmark Cr2O3-forming Fe-based 310 and Ni-based 625 alloys was investigated for 500 h exposures at 800 °C to 900 °C in air with 10% H2O. The Cr evaporation rates from alumina-forming austenitic (AFA) alloys were ~5 to 35 times lower than that of the Cr2O3-forming alloys depending on alloy and temperature. The Cr evaporation behavior was correlated with extensive characterization of the chemistry and microstructure of the oxide scales, which also revealed a degree of quartz tube Si contamination during the test. Long-term oxidation kinetics were also assessed at 800 to 1000 °C for up to 10,000 h in air with 10% H2O to provide further guidance for SOFC BOP component alloy selection.  相似文献

Mullite-type RMn2O5 (R = Y, rare-earth element) ceramics are of ongoing research attentions because of their interesting crystal-chemical, physical, and thermal properties. We report a detailed structural, spectroscopic and thermal analysis of the series of mullite-type RAlGeO5 (R = Y, Sm-Lu) phases. Polycrystalline samples are prepared by solid-state synthesis methods. Each sample is characterized by X-ray powder diffraction followed by Rietveld refinements, showing that they are isotypic and crystallize in the space group Pbam. The change of the metric parameters is explained in term of the lanthanide contraction effect. A rare inversion of Al/Ge between octahedral and pyramidal sites have been observed for these mullite-type so called O10 compounds, and the inversion parameter found to be between 0.22(1) and 0.30(1) for different R-cations. The <Al/Ge–O> bond distances and their bond valence sums (BVSs) support the respective inversions. Density functional theory (DFT) calculated phonon density of states (PDOS) and electronic band structures are compared for the vibrational and electronic band gap features respectively. Analysis of UV/Vis absorption spectra using both derivation of absorption spectra fitting (DASF) and Tauc's methods demonstrates that each of the RAlGeO5 O10 compounds is high bandgap semiconductor, possessing direct transition between 4.1(1) and 5.4(1) eV. Both Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectra show clear red shift (quasi-harmonic) of the vibrational wavenumbers with respect to the ionic radii of the R-cations. Selective Raman bands at higher wavenumber region further complement the inversion of Al/Ge between two coordination sites. The higher decomposition temperature of the RAlGeO5 compounds, compared to those of RMn2O5 phases, is explained in terms of higher bond strength of Al/Ge-O than those of Mn-O. Irrespective to the inversion between Al- and Ge-sites, the decomposition temperature also depends on the type of R-cation in RAlGeO5.  相似文献

The health benefits of whole wheat consumption can be partially attributed to wheat's phytochemicals, including phenolic acids, flavonoids, alkylresorcinols, carotenoids, phytosterols, tocopherols, and tocotrienols. It is of increasing interest to produce whole wheat products that are rich in bioactive phytochemicals. This review provides the fundamentals of the chemistry, extraction, and occurrence of wheat phytochemicals and includes critical discussion of several long-lasting issues: (1) the commonly used nomenclature on distribution of wheat phenolic acids, namely, soluble-free, soluble-conjugated, and insoluble-bound phenolic acids; (2) different extraction protocols for wheat phytochemicals; and (3) the chemistry and application of in vitro antioxidant assays. This review further discusses recent advances on the effects of genotypes, environments, field management, and processing techniques including ultrafine grinding, germination, fermentation, enzymatic treatments, thermal treatments, and food processing. These results need to be interpreted with care due to varied sample preparation protocols and limitations of in vitro assays. The bioaccessibility, bioavailability, metabolism, and potential health benefits of wheat phytochemicals are also reviewed. This comprehensive and critical review will benefit scientific researchers in the field of bioactive compounds of cereal grains and also those in the cereal food industry to produce high-quality functional foods.  相似文献

Selective targeting of DNA by means of fluorescent labeling has become a mainstay in the life sciences. While genetic engineering serves as a powerful technique and allows the visualization of nucleic acid by using DNA-targeting fluorescent fusion proteins in a cell-type- and subcellular-specific manner, it relies on the introduction of foreign genes. On the other hand, DNA-binding small fluorescent molecules can be used without genetic engineering, but they are not spatially restricted. Herein, we report a photocaged version of the DNA dye Hoechst33342 (pcHoechst), which can be uncaged by using UV to blue light for the selective staining of chromosomal DNA in subnuclear regions of live cells. Expanding its application to a vertebrate model organism, we demonstrate uncaging in epithelial cells and short-term cell tracking in vivo in zebrafish. We envision pcHoechst as a valuable tool for targeting and interrogating DNA with precise spatiotemporal resolution in living cells and wild-type organisms.  相似文献

The enzyme butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) represents a promising target for imaging probes to potentially enable early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease (AD) and to monitor disease progression in some forms of cancer. In this study, we present the design, facile synthesis, in vitro and preliminary ex vivo and in vivo evaluation of a morpholine-based, selective inhibitor of human BChE as a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer with a pseudo-irreversible binding mode. We demonstrate a novel protecting group strategy for 18F radiolabeling of carbamate precursors and show that the inhibitory potency as well as kinetic properties of our unlabeled reference compound were retained in comparison to the parent compound. In particular, the prolonged duration of enzyme inhibition of such a morpholinocarbamate motivated us to design a PET tracer, possibly enabling a precise mapping of BChE distribution.  相似文献

Enhanced understanding of neuropathologies has created a need for more advanced tools. Current neural implants result in extensive glial scarring and are not able to highly localize drug delivery due to their size. Smaller implants reduce surgical trauma and improve spatial resolution, but such a reduction requires improvements in device design to enable accurate and chronic implantation in subcortical structures. Flexible needle steering techniques offer improved control over implant placement, but often require complex closed‐loop control for accurate implantation. This study reports the development of steerable microinvasive neural implants (S‐MINIs) constructed from borosilicate capillaries (OD = 60 µm, ID = 20 µm) that do not require closed‐loop guidance or guide tubes. S‐MINIs reduce glial scarring 3.5‐fold compared to prior implants. Bevel steered needles are utilized for open‐loop targeting of deep‐brain structures. This study demonstrates a sinusoidal relationship between implant bevel angle and the trajectory radius of curvature both in vitro and ex vivo. This relationship allows for bevel‐tipped capillaries to be steered to a target with an average error of 0.23 mm ± 0.19 without closed‐loop control. Polished microcapillaries present a new microinvasive tool for chronic, predictable targeting of pathophysiological structures without the need for closed‐loop feedback and complex imaging.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper explores intensified water crisis in Bangalore (or Bengaluru) in India by using the analytic of three hydrosocial regimes: the catchment-based regime, the hydraulic regime and the speculative urban regime. It uses a wide range of qualitative interviews, scientific reports and secondary sources to analyze shifting urban trajectories, agrarian relations and their interlinkages with water. Historical ruptures (in the realm of governance, urban growth and changing urban–rural dynamics) allow one to highlight the complex role of speculative logics that shape urban expansion and water scarcity.  相似文献

Mysis diluviana is a major component of prey fish diets in the Great Lakes, so annual production of M. diluviana is important for understanding and modeling energy flow through Great Lakes food webs. However, only three lake-wide measurements of M. diluviana annual production in Lake Ontario are currently available (1971, 1990, 1995). During 2013, lake-wide coverage of Lake Ontario was achieved during four periods from April to November. Annual mean density and biomass of M. diluviana in 2013 were 99?#/m2 (SE: 8) and 318?mg?dw/m2 (SE: 28) – approximately half of values observed in 1990s. M. diluviana comprised 13–30% of offshore zooplankton biomass in each period. Reproduction peaked in fall, with mean brood size of 32 embryos (range: 11–49), at least 10% larger than in 1990s. Generation time was two years from embryo to initial reproduction. Growth rates were 0.052?mm/d for the age-0 cohort and 0.027?mm/d for the age-1 cohort. Age-0 growth rate was significantly higher than in 1980s–90s (0.035?mm/d). Annual production in 2013 was 0.85?g?dw/m2/yr (SE: 0.03) which was 30–40% of values observed in 1990 and 1995 (2.23 and 2.53?g/m2/yr). Annual production to biomass ratio (P/B) in 2013 was 2.65?/yr which was 80–85% of values observed in 1990 and 1995 (3.24 and 3.11?/yr), but this difference was not statistically significant. Our results suggest that changes in annual production over time can be estimated using changes in biomass over time and a mean P/B ratio.  相似文献
